Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a leading animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang

In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge pinned to her shirt.

Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the toys.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
